BEMIDJI — Much of the smoke that clouded Bemidji Saturday came from Canadian wildfires — and possibly the burnout pit at the third annual Babe's Burnout Car Show.

Despite the hazy weather, over 7,000 attendees and 178 vehicles showed up at the Sanford Center parking lot on July 12 for the annual showcase.

Festivities kicked off at 11 a.m. with food trucks, a beer tent, kid's zone with bouncy houses and a cornhole tournament that supports the United Way Disaster Relief fund.

The highlight of the event was the burnout pit, which gave participants a chance to show off their burnout skills in front of the crowd.

"This is quickly becoming a contender for the largest car show in northern Minnesota," Sanford Center General Manager Bobby Anderson said in a release. "We are so excited to bring this free event to our community. We love giving back to the community in a tangible way with an amazing event that has no barrier to come."

Next year's Babe's Burnout Car Show is set for July 11, 2026.
