This summer is about to get 'vibey' with small town concerts throughout Minnesota

The month of May brings with it flowers, fun and plenty of start-of-summer activities, including live music. If you're looking for entertainment to kick off summer, here's a handy-dandy list for what's happening this month.

There are always big names making their way to some of the bigger cities around Minnesota and beyond, but if you're looking for that vibey, small town charm, here are some events around the state you can check out while traveling around the land of 10,000 lakes throughout the rest of May:

Beach Boys Concert

When: Friday, May 16

Where: Mahnomen Shooting Star Casino

Information: The iconic California band known as The Beach Boys will be giving an 8 p.m. concert in the event center at Mahnomen's Shooting Star Casino.

Mason Dixon Line: Hot Country Nights

When: May 16

Where: St. Cloud

Information: Mason Dixon Line will perform country hits from George Strait, Keith Urban, Shania Twain, Zach Brown, Alabama, Gretchen Wilson, Johnny Cash, Eric Church and everything in between. The Fabulous Armadillos and Collective Unconscious

St. Cloud Municipal Band

Information: Experience “A Night at the Movies” with the St. Cloud Municipal Band this spring. Come hear the sounds of the big screen as the band presents music from a great variety of film scores. The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Center for the Arts. Tickets are available online at

Steven Adler of Guns 'N Roses

Where: Mahnomen Shooting Star Casino

Information: Steven Adler, drummer for the iconic rock band Guns 'N Roses will be performing an 8 p.m. concert in the event center at Mahnomen's Shooting Star Casino.

Bemidji - Music Under the Pines

When: 2 p.m. Sunday, May 25

Where: Amphitheater stage at Lake Bemidji State Park

Cost: No charge, but a Minnesota State Parks permit is required for park entrance

Information: It all starts on Sunday, May 25, when young singer Natalie Corcoran takes the amphitheater stage at Lake Bemidji State Park to kick off the Music Under the Pines concert series. And it will wrap up on Sunday, Aug. 31, with the final Music Under the Pines concert featuring Donna and Greg Gaston. In between, at least 40 more performances are planned from Mississippi Music at the Bemidji Waterfront, the Bemidji Area Community Band and the Bemidji Symphony Orchestra.

New York Mills - Sofia Talvik

When: 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 29

Where: New York Mills Regional Cultural Center

Cost: No set charge

Information: The Cultural Center is offering a "pay as you're able" model for its spring concert series this year, which means that everyone, regardless of financial barriers, can enjoy the concert, thanks to a grant from the Lake Region Arts Council. Doors open at 7 p.m., and all are welcome to enjoy an evening of stories and songs from a folk artist who has been compared to icons like Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins.

Street Faire at the Lakes

When: 10 a.m.-midnight on May 30; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on May 31

Where: Outdoor stage on Holmes Street in downtown Detroit Lakes

Information: The 25th Annual Street Faire at the Lakes will include continuous live music on the Holmes Street Stage, along with "wandering musician" Paul Imholte (on Friday only). Dust 'N Bones
