Here is a calendar of important election dates in Minnesota for voters — and potential candidates.

Presidential primary
- Friday, Jan. 19: The start of early voting (in-person and by mail) for the presidential primary
- Tuesday, Feb. 13: The last day to register to vote in advance of the presidential primary
- Tuesday, Feb. 27: Minnesota political parties host local precinct caucuses, to pick delegates for endorsing conventions in May
- Monday, March 4: The last day of early voting for the presidential primary
- Tuesday, March 5: Presidential primary

- Saturday, May 16: Minnesota GOP's state convention begins in St. Paul
- Tuesday, May 21: The first day for candidates to file for local, state and federal offices
- Sunday, May 31: Minnesota DFL state convention begins
- Tuesday, June 4: The filing deadline for candidates for local, state and federal offices
- Friday, June 28: The start of early voting (in-person and by mail) for the primary election
- Tuesday, July 23: The last day to register to vote in advance of the August primary
