Shelby Lindrud is a reporter with the West Central Tribune of Willmar. Her focus areas are arts and entertainment, agriculture, features writing and the Kandiyohi County Board.

She started at the Tribune in December 2015. Her focus area has been features since May 2022. Prior to that, she covered the city of Willmar and Kandiyohi County.

A 2006 graduate of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Shelby first worked for the Olivia Times-Journal/Renville Star Farmer News, later the Renville County Register, in Olivia, Minnesota from July 2006 to December 2015. First she held the position as staff writer before being promoted to editor in December 2012.

Shelby has won multiple Minnesota Newspaper Association awards for both writing and photography.

She grew up in several different areas as the daughter of an active duty Air Force father. Shelby lived in Texas, Michigan and Ohio. She also lived for three years in Bitburg, Germany.

In her free time Shelby loves to read, play video games and watch her favorite movies and television shows and spend time with her family and pets. Her favorite author is J.R.R. Tolkien. She is also a baseball and hockey fan.

Lee and Jane Radzak of Willmar lived for 36 years at the Split Rock Lighthouse Historical Site while Lee worked as the site's manager. Once he retired, Lee wrote a book about the family's experiences living at the lighthouse.
Deja Denise Padilla, 19, of Montevideo, has been arrested in connection with the overdose death of an individual in Renville County in November 2021. The medical examiner said the toxic effects of methamphetamine and fentanyl were the cause of death. Padilla has been charged with murder in the third degree, for allegedly supplying the fentanyl that caused the individual’s death.
Two deaths were reported Sunday on the Minnesota River in Renville County. The body of Matthew James Wrobleski, 48, of Willmar, was discovered Sunday afternoon in a log jam between Franklin and Morton. Authorities also identified apparent drowning victim Lance Edward Scheer, 19, of Redwood Falls, who was pulled from the water after he had been swimming in the river near Vicksburg Park. Both incident are under investigation.

Members of the Olivia community gathered Friday evening near where Isaac Hoff, 13, was killed early Thursday morning, to remember, grieve and try to understand how such a thing could happen. Hoff was killed after being stabbed, allegedly by his mother's boyfriend. Houston Morris has been charged with three felony counts of second-degree murder.
Three counts of second-degree murder have been filed against Houston Allen Morris, of Olivia, who allegedly stabbed and killed the 13-year-old Isaac Hoff, son of his girlfriend early Thursday morning in Olivia.
