“Shortly thereafter, the Pine Point canceled school for today after the initial report, out of an abundance of caution,” the media release stated. “The Becker County Sheriff’s Office investigated the complaint, and a 13-year-old female was later taken into custody for a threats of violence charge for statements that were made.”

The media release also stated the initial investigation indicated there was no imminent danger to the school, staff or students, in regards to the incident.

The incident remains under investigation.

This comes on the same day another Becker County school had extra security called in due to a school threat in which threatening words were found written on a desk inside the school.

Parents were notified of the risk Friday morning, Sept. 20 so that guardians could decide for themselves whether they wanted to send their children to school or not. Police are still investigating that situation.

Pine Point is located roughly 20 miles northwest of Park Rapids, Minnesota.
