ST. PAUL — Sen. John Hoffman has been discharged from the ICU and moved to a rehab facility, the Minnesota legislator and his family shared on Monday.
The Monday, July 7 update from Hoffman's family comes just over three weeks after Hoffman and his wife Yvette, who is also in recovery, were shot nine and eight times, respectively, in their Champlin home. Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark were shot and killed the same night, June 14, in what officials have called politically motivated shootings.

A spokesperson for the Hoffman family said Monday that Sen. Hoffman has a “long road to recovery ahead.”
The Hoffman family said in a June statement that during the attack, Sen. Hoffman initially launched at the gunman, suspected to be 57-year-old Vance Boelter, and took nine bullets before falling to the ground. Yvette and the Hoffmans' daughter Hope were able to shut the front door of the home with the gunman outside, after which Hope called 911.

Boelter faces state and federal charges in the shootings. His last court appearance was Thursday, during which he waived his right to probable cause and detention hearings. No new court appearance had been scheduled for Boelter as of Tuesday afternoon.
