Man dies from injuries suffered in October crash with semi in west-central Minnesota

An Appleton, Minnesota, man who was injured Oct. 18 in a collision at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 4 and Minnesota Highway 19 in Fairfax succumbed to his injuries Nov. 4.

FAIRFAX — An Appleton, Minnesota, man injured in a crash with a semi last month in southwest Minnesota died Friday at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale.

Harry Edward McCroy, 70, died Nov. 4 of multiple blunt force injuries, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.

Two people from Appleton, Minnesota, were injured after their vehicle and a semitractor collided at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 4 and Minnesota Highway 19 in Fairfax. The driver of the semi was uninjured, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The crash was reported the morning of Oct. 18 at a highway intersection on the east edge of Fairfax.

McCroy was driving a small SUV southbound on Minnesota Highway 4, and a semitractor was westbound on state Highway 19 when the two vehicles collided, according to the Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

Georgia Lee McCroy, 65, also of Appleton, a passenger in the SUV, suffered what were described at the time as non-life-threatening injuries, and she was treated in Redwood Falls.

Semi driver Frank Mark Yost, 48, of Lafayette, was not injured.

All parties involved were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor, according to the State Patrol report.
