Funeral planned Monday for two New London, Minnesota, brothers in fatal UTV crash

The New London-Spicer District will be canceling school early on Monday to allow students and staff to attend

NEW LONDON, Minn. — Funeral arrangements have been made for the two brothers who died as a result of a UTV crash on Jan. 7.

The funerals for William “Will” Dahl, 15, and Harrison “Harry” Dahl, 11, of New London, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, at Peace Lutheran Church in New London. Services will also be livestreamed at New London-Spicer Performing Arts Center.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, Jan. 21, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.

The New London-Spicer District announced on its Thursday that the school board approved canceling classes early on Monday to allow students and staff to attend the funeral. Excess seating will be provided at the New London-Spicer Performing Arts Center once doors open at 1:15 p.m. Monday. The school district said the activities department has also decided to cancel Monday evening’s games. Practices will be held at individual coaches’ discretion.

Will Dahl died Jan. 9 at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis from injuries he suffered in the crash. The family decided to donate his organs to honor Will’s “loving and generous spirit.”

According to his Will attended New London-Spicer High , where he was part of the football, trap shooting and wrestling teams.

“While at home, he loved his dogs, cows, baking cookies and brownies and having a good steak with his family,” the obituary said. “He took pride in being a loyal and loving friend to many, who occasionally was known to have a crowd around him. He was the kind of person you never forgot once you met him.”

Harrison Dahl died Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis due to injuries he suffered in the crash. Harrison attended New London-Spicer Middle , where he was involved with the fifth- and sixth-grade football teams and the NLS Youth Wrestling program.

At home, Harrison enjoyed snuggling with his three dogs and always knew how to make a comment that would get under his brothers’ skin, according to his “He could tell a nine-hour story in a quick, short sentence. He was right to the point. For his birthday he always picked biscuits and gravy for his birthday supper, it was his favorite.”

Harrison didn’t like school but “always tried his best. He marched to the beat of his own drum.”

Both boys are survived by their parents, Lara and Mike Dahl; brothers, Gage and Drew; grandparents, Philip and Janelle Lungstrom and Jeffrey and Cynthia Dahl; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.
