30-year-old motorcyclist dies after Waite Park crash

Speed may have been a factor in the crash, and the investigation is ongoing, according to a news release

WAITE PARK, Minn. — An Annandale motorcyclist died Sunday, June 18, after a crash with a car in Waite Park, according to a Waite Park Police Department news release.

The crash occurred at about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Second Avenue South and Second Street South.

Witnesses reported that a Honda Civic, driven by Angeline Golembeck, 81, of St. Cloud, was exiting a parking lot on the west side of Second Avenue South and turning north onto Second Avenue South, according to the news release.

The motorcycle, driven by Brett Iees, 30, of Annandale, was traveling south on Second Avenue South when the crash occurred.

Iees was taken to Centracare-St. Cloud Hospital by Mayo Ambulance with life-threatening injuries. According to the release, he later died from his injuries. Golembeck was not injured in the crash.

Speed may have been a factor in the crash and the investigation is ongoing, the release said.
