Chip sealing project to take place on roads throughout Beltrami County

As of Monday, July 7, chip seal operations are underway on several routes in Beltrami County. The Beltrami County Highway Department urges motorists to use caution when traveling in work zones.

BEMIDJI — As of Monday, July 7, chip seal operations are underway on several routes throughout Beltrami County.

"Chip sealing operations include application of a liquid emulsion to the road, covering it with small rock, rolling the rock into the oil with heavy rollers, and applying a final liquid emulsion to prolong the life of the road," a release explained.

During construction, drivers may encounter wet oil and loose rock. Drivers are urged to avoid driving into wet oil and wait for the pilot cars that will be operating in the construction zone, the release noted.

Use caution and reduce vehicle speed to help prevent vehicle damage as loose rock may be present.

Roads to be seal coated:

  • CSAH 6 from CSAH 11 to Norton Avenue
  • CSAH 8 from CSAH 25 to the South County line
  • CSAH 20 from CSAH 27 to CSAH 39
  • CSAH 21 from Annebell St to TH 71
  • CSAH 24 from West County line to TH 89
  • CSAH 32 from CSAH 31 to TH 72
  • CSAH 35 from TH 71 to CSAH 30
  • CSAH 57 from CSAH 21 to TH 71
  • CSAH 57 from CSAH 20 to Sumac Road
  • CR 305 from CSAH 57 to CSAH 21
  • CR 401 from South County line to CSAH 11
  • CR 402 from College Entrance to CSAH 46
  • CR 402 from TH 71 to 0.2 miles east
  • CR 403 from CSAH 4 to CR 404
  • CR 407 from CSAH 4 to CSAH 12
  • East Movil Lake Road NE from TH 71 to 1.75 miles north
  • South Movil Lake Road NW from CSAH 15 to Tavistock Road NW
  • Tavistock Road NW from South Movil Lake Road NW to Whiting Road NW
