The exhibit showcases work by students from Bemidji Middle ÍáÍáÂþ», LaPorte Middle ÍáÍáÂþ», Aurora Waasakone Community of Learners and Cass Lake-Bena Middle ÍáÍáÂþ». The exhibit will be available for viewing through May 23.

Participants of Watermark's latest traditional weaving workshops taught by Jeff Harper and Michelle Marion will display work in the Miikanan Gallery May 3-31. Projects include finger weaving, cedar mats with basswood cordage and baskets made from birch bark and black ash.

Multimedia Artist Susan Hensel's exhibit "Neotectonic Period" opens Friday, May 9, with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m., including an artist talk with Hensel at 6 p.m.

Hensel explains the definition of Neotectonics as "the study of the motions and deformations of the Earth’s crust in current times, often in service of predicting earthquakes." She uses this terminology as a metaphor to describe the seismic forces of climate change, cultural upheaval, pandemic, and political turmoil reflected in her work, a release said. The show runs through July 26.

The weaving workshops and Harper weaving exhibit were made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Additional support comes from Arts Midwest, the release said.

There is no cost to attend the receptions and they are open to the public.
