BEMIDJI — The next LoonBird Cafe event featuring area songwriters will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Table for 7, located at 414 Beltrami Ave. NW in downtown Bemidji.
Performers will be Mary Overlie, Janet Preus, Grant Raddatz and Charley Wagner.

The event is fashioned in the spirit of the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, “where people gather to listen to local songwriters trade original songs over a nourishing locally inspired meal,” a release said. “Listeners can expect an intimate evening where these local soulsters bring their grooves, stories and rhythm to an acoustic stage.”
Overlie leads a double life as a teacher and songwriter, weaving gospel-infused rock and soul music with her bandmates in Mudsong and Augmented.
Preus is an award-winning journalist, songwriter, writer and playwright. In addition to writing her own works for the stage, she's also directed dozens of plays, musicals and light operas.
Raddatz “brings an understated warmth and fire no matter the axe in his hands, whether that’s holding down rhythm as a drummer or with his guitar singing his tunes,” the release said.
Wagner performs authentic Americana music. He works as an arborist and shares life’s textures in his songs.
