CHIPPEWA NATIONAL FOREST

The act, introduced by Rep. Pete Stauber, would exchange 36.7 acres owned by the Bowen Lodge resort in Deer River for 17.5 acres managed by the U.S. Forest Service and the Chippewa National Forest.
The entire UBA Project is set within a boundary of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, including areas along the Mississippi River between Lake Winnibigoshish and Cass Lake.
"For many families, bringing home a Christmas tree from their local National Forest is a cherished tradition carried on for generations," Forest Supervisor Michael Stansberry said.
The renovation project will address deferred maintenance by constructing a new well, well house, a new water distribution system and a new electrical system with 50-amp service to each campsite.
