According to a release by Hunger Solutions of Minnesota, the state also saw a record number of visits to food shelves throughout the state in 2023, with just over 7.5 million visits. This breaks the previous record of 5 million visits in 2022.

The annual fundraiser gathered over 10,000 pounds of food for the Bemidji Community Food Shelf, which will help it meet the growing needs of the community as food insecurity increases.

The upcoming March Food Share will again be an important time to build the support needed to address the increasing needs for food in Bemidji, the release said. Donations made from Feb. 25 through April 6 will receive a partial match from the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches.
