BEMIDJI — To help stimulate the local economy and support both small businesses and area families, the Bemidji Area Chamber of Commerce has launched a Chamber Bucks Bonus Gift Card Program.

The program is focused on restaurants and grocery stores — two sectors hit hardest by the recent June 21 storm, a release noted.

"This limited-time initiative gives extra value to every gift card purchased through the program, putting more money in people’s pockets while driving much-needed traffic to vital local businesses," the release said.

For every Chamber Bucks gift card purchased, buyers receive a bonus card that can be used at participating local restaurants and grocery stores.

For example, those who buy a $100 gift card will receive an extra $75 card, and those who buy a $50 gift card will receive an extra $35 card.

“All around, this program is a win-win for our community,” Scott Turn, President of the Bemidji Area Chamber of Commerce said in the release. “Local businesses see an immediate economic boost, and families get extra value for essentials like meals and groceries.”

This program is possible due to local businesses, who have already contributed over $75,000 to support the effort. More than 70 local businesses, including nearly 20 restaurants and grocery stores, are participating in the program.

The program is expected to generate an estimated $1 million impact for Bemidji’s local economy, the release noted.
