BELGRADE, Serbia — Crosby-Ironton High ÍáÍáÂþ» and North Dakota State University graduate Hayden Zillmer won his first two matches Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Senior World Championships.
The unseeded Zillmer opened with a 15-4 Victory over Zyamuhammet Saparov of Turkmenistan. Zillmer then defeated Robert Baran of Poland, who is a multiple-time European medalist, before falling to top-seeded and three-time world champion Geno Petriashvili of Georgia in the quarterfinals 9-4.

Petriashvili then lost in the semifinals to end Zillmer’s tournament.
