BEMIDJI — Quintyn Karl is in his rookie season of racing at Bemidji Speedway. He watched his dad race for several years before he was able to take over the wheel and give it a try for himself.
Karl began racing once he reached the age of 14, which is required by the track.

Karl and his parents live in Akeley and make the trip to Bemidji Speedway each Sunday to race.
“I grew up watching my dad race and fell in love with the sport,” he continued. “I enjoy the adrenaline rush and the challenge of racing as the youngest at the track”.
Karl's goal this year is to finish each race and achieve new goals as they come to him. He races in the very competitive Wissota Pure Stock class and currently sits in 16th place in points.
Races return to the Bemidji Speedway at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 13.
