Taven James, Warroad scores in bunches to outlast Bemidji

WARROAD – The Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ boys hockey team couldn’t quite dig itself out of a first-period hole.

Taven James scored for Warroad to put the Warriors ahead 1-0 five minutes into the game. Four minutes later, Draydin James doubled the lead. The two early goals were the cushion for Warroad in a 5-2 win.

Conor Stogell got one back for the Lumberjacks before Ryan Shaugabay scored for the Warriors to open the second period. Benji O’Leary pulled BHS within one again in the middle frame.

In the third period, however, Wyatt Hennum scored late, then James added his second goal on an empty net to seal the win.

Tate Metcalf stopped 32 shots for the Jacks, while Finn Hanson made 24 saves for the Warriors.
