ST. PAUL — The Minnesota State High ÍáÍáÂþ» League Board of Directors has approved full seeding for teams one through eight at both the boys and girls future state hockey tournaments.
A motion was passed on Tuesday to change the rule in hockey that previously only seeded the top five teams at the state tournament. Teams were seeded one through five and the other three were "random draws" that were selected to compete against the top three seeds. Now, both boys and girls hockey will be fully seeded one through eight.

There was also a vote to change the classification process in boys hockey but the motion did not pass. This proposal, according to the MSHSL website, would allow schools to opt-up to Class AA and in return the smallest school in that section would be moved down to Class A.
The motions to change the classification process for Boys Hockey and to allow video review in Alpine Ski do not pass. The headgear exception rule for Nordic Ski passes.
