Lumberjacks tally 8 top-5 finishes at Dan Jinks Invite

A handful of Lumberjacks managed to finish near the top of their respective events at the Dan Jinks Invite on Thursday.

GRAND RAPIDS — A handful of Lumberjacks managed to finish near the top of their respective events on Thursday.

The Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ track and field team traveled to Grand Rapids to compete in the Dan Jinks Invite, ending the day with eight top-5 finishes. As a team, the boys finished fourth with a score of 13 and the girls wound up in fifth with six points.

Trevor Larson paced the Jacks in the 100-meter dash, finishing sixth with a time of 12.22 seconds. Kesean Carter was hot on his heels, finishing just 0.02 seconds behind for seventh place.

Carter and Larson also had solid outings in the 200-meter, placing fourth (25.04) and eighth (25.80), respectively. Hannah Quinn earned fourth place in the 400-meter dash (1:05.79) on the girls side, while Sean Ryan Aylesworth captured eighth (59.64) on the boys side.

Carter, Emilio Gil-Skinaway, Hunter Nelson and Cedrick Johnson teamed up for Bemidji’s best relay finish of the day, placing second in the 4x100 (50.82). The girls’ best finish came courtesy of Jerzey Everhart, Quinn, Halle Hofstad and Kambria Lee. The quartet took third in the 4x200 with a time of 2:04.18.

Dylan Gunkel, Moses White Dress, Jack Lanz and Crockett Puschinsky wound up fourth in the 4x800 (10:17.50). Chante Stowe, Izabella Hickerson, Ruth Deutsch and Hailey Premo snagged fifth (1:01.25) in the 4x100.

A trio of Lumberjack boys placed in the high jump. Gavin Hokuf (fourth, 5-0), Tanner Cherney (fifth, 5-0) and Nelson (ninth, 4-10) all finished in the top 10. In the long jump, Johnson grabbed sixth (15-10) while Colton Gruendemann secured ninth (15-1.75) on the boys side. Nora Breuer paced the Lumberjack girls in ninth place (11-8).

Rose Maus led BHS with a 10th-place finish in the discus (52-5). Puschinsky tallied sixth in the pole vault (8-0).
