ST. MICHAEL — The No. 1 team in Class AAA, the No. 3 team in Class AAA and the No. 4 team in Class AA.

That’s the kind of competition the Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ boys wrestling team faced in Friday’s St. Michael-Albertville Invitational.

The Lumberjacks lost to No. 1 STMA, No. 3 Stillwater and No. 4 Kasson-Mantorville by scores of 48-16, 37-21 and 35-23.

Though BHS didn’t manage to collect a win at the invitational, multiple wrestlers put up impressive performances.

Gabe Morin and Gavin Osborn were the only two Jacks to go undefeated through all three matches. Competing in the 126-pound weight class, Morin pinned STMA’s Nolan Seman in 5:12, bested Stillwater’s Cade Elzen with a 7-0 decision and defeated Kasson-Mantorville’s Rex Ayshford by a 8-3 decision.

At 132, Osborn earned all his wins by decision. He beat Tanner Becker (STMA) 4-2, Mikey Jelinek (SHS) 7-1 and Aiden Friedrich (KM) 7-3.

Five Lumberjack wrestlers also managed to collect two wins on the day. Ozzie Hanks (106) eked out a 6-4 decision win over Stillwater’s Chase Lawrence and earned a 10-2 major decision victory over Kasson-Mantorville’s Oliver Powell.

Nick Strand picked up two wins at 139 by pinning Grayson Eggum (SHS) in 5:45 and defeating Jonah Coleman (KM) by a 8-0 major decision.

At 120, Casey Sisneros picked up a pair of close wins by decision, defeating St. Michael-Albertville’s Eli Schultz 5-4 and Kasson-Mantorville’s Kalin Anderson 2-0.

Alec Newby picked up his two wins by pinning Charlie Heser (KM) in 1:48 and defeating Braden Hatalla by a 7-0 decision.

Wrestling in the heavyweight class, Nehemiah Schwinghammer picked up wins over Blake Underwood of STMA (major decision, 12-4) and Andrew Olson of Stillwater (decision, 8-6).
