Jacks stymied against unbeaten Rock Ridge, extend 2 matches to 3 sets

The Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ girls tennis team had a striking trip to the Iron Range on Friday. Facing off against undefeated Class AA No. 14 Rock Ridge, the Lumberjacks had a rough go of it.

VIRGINIA – The Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ girls tennis team had a striking trip to the Iron Range on Friday.

Facing off against undefeated Class AA No. 14 Rock Ridge in Virginia, the Lumberjacks had a rough go of it. The Wolverines swept BHS 7-0, slashing the Jacks’ chances to pick up their 15th win of the season.

Three Bemidji players managed to push their matches to third sets. No. 1 singles player Elizabeth Peterson won the second set of her matchup 6-4, extending the match after battling in a 7-6 (7-5) first-set defeat. But Rock Ridge opponent Maymee Scott rallied for a dominant 10-1 victory in set three.

Similarly at No. 2 doubles, Megan Berg and Ruby McKeon took the second set 6-3, elongating their match after a 6-0 loss in the opening frame. But in the decisive third set, Ayla Troutwine and Matti Seppi squeaked out a 10-7 triumph for the Wolverines.
