Jacks are off an running, compete in Perham’s Brave Like Gabe Invitational

The Brave Like Gabe Invitational is the annual commencement of the high school cross country season. Once again, Bemidji took part.

PERHAM – The Brave Like Gabe Invitational is the annual commencement to the high school cross country season. Once again, Bemidji took part.

The Lumberjacks landed in ninth place in the Boys Gold Division and 10th in the Girls Gold Division.

Caleb Knott clocked the fastest time among the BHS boys at 18:21.1 in 44th place. He was followed by William Ames (18:40.5, 51st), Blake DeWitt (18:42.3, 52nd) and Kyle Millar (18:52.1, 53rd). William Lohse rounded out the top-five finishers for the Jacks in 58th place at 19:09.1, while Sam Urban (19:35.1, 60th) and Deven Bentler (20:17.1, 71st) followed.

Chloe Derby paced the girls with a 35th-place time of 22:05.0. Claire Storey (24:37.0, 60th), Sydney Beise (25:31.1, 64th), Brenalen Fredriksen-Holm (25:36.0, 67th) and Anika Sneide (25:48.0, 68th) completed the varsity scorers for the Jacks. Adeline Runnigen (26:11.1, 69th) and Theonna Spicer (26:37.0, 71st) also competed for Bemidji.

Hopkins won the girls race with 36 team points, followed by Perham (60) and Moorhead (97) in second and third, respectively. Edina topped the boys field with 38 points, followed by Perham (63) and Hopkins (111).
