Elk River scores thrice in 1st half to down Bemidji in 8-3A Tournament

The fifth-seeded Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ girls soccer team fell to fourth-seeded Elk River 3-0. Two goals from Leila Bakri in the first eight minutes put the Lumberjacks in a hole early.

ELK RIVER – Records were thrown out the window on Wednesday for the start of the Section 8-3A Tournament.

The fifth-seeded Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ girls soccer team fell to fourth-seeded Elk River 3-0. Two goals from Leila Bakri in the first eight minutes put the Lumberjacks in a hole early.

Lidia Felgate added a third goal for the Elks in the 34th minute. Clara Bieber made five saves in goal for the Jacks.

Elk River was voted as the fourth seed in the 8-3A Tournament despite a 5-8-3 overall record and a 1-2 mark in section play. BHS finished the regular season 10-6 overall and 3-2 in 8-3A play. The two teams did not play each other before Wednesday.
