BOYS SOCCER: Bemidji takes win streak, No. 5 seed into Section 8-3A Tournament

The Lumberjacks earned the No. 5 seed for the Section 8-3A Tournament on Monday, and they’re matched up against fourth-seeded Sartell-St. Stephen in the first round. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, in Sartell.

BEMIDJI -- The march to state will begin in Sartell for the Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ boys soccer team.

The Lumberjacks earned the No. 5 seed for the Section 8-3A Tournament on Monday, and they’re matched up against fourth-seeded Sartell-St. Stephen in the first round. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, in Sartell.

The winner will move on to play either top-seeded Moorhead or eighth-seeded Elk River in the section semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the high seed. The section championship is set for Thursday, Oct. 20, at the high seed.

On the other half of the bracket, Brainerd earned the second seed and will host seventh-seeded Rogers in the first round. Third-seeded St. Michael-Albertville clashes with sixth-seeded Buffalo to round out the bracket.

Bemidji lost 3-1 at Sartell-St. Stephen in the season opener on Aug. 26, the teams’ lone meeting during the regular season. But the Jacks enter in with a four-game winning streak and an 8-7-1 record. The Sabres are 7-6-2, tying twice and losing once to close out the regular season.
