ST. CLOUD – Following up a slow start with a big second period has become the norm for the Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ» boys hockey team.
The Lumberjacks skated their way to the Granite City Showcase semifinal in a 6-2 win over St. Cloud Cathedral

After surrendering the game’s opening goal in the first period, Stonewall Gessner, Conor Stodgell, Joey Fankhanel and Nick Johnson each scored in the middle frame to take a 4-1 lead. Stodgell and Fankhanel each scored short-handed goals.
The Crusaders scored again to kick off the third period before Cal Mattfield made it 5-2. Johnson’s second goal went into the empty net for the 6-2 win.
Tate KMetcalf earned another win for BHS (9-2) by making 18 saves. Keaton LeGrande stopped 20 shots for Cathedral.
