Bemidji collects multiple top-20 finishes at Maroon and Gold Invite

The Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ girls swimming and diving team matched up with a number of squads from around the state, competing at the Maroon and Gold Invitational held at the University of Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS – The Bemidji High ÍáÍáÂþ»­ girls swimming and diving team matched up with a number of squads from around Minnesota on Saturday, competing with 13 other teams at the Maroon and Gold Invitational held at the University of Minnesota’s Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

The Lumberjacks took 12th place as a team in the Maroon Division, compiling 50 team points. East Ridge (504), Rosemount (311) and Delano (288) rounded out the top three teams.

BHS had a number of top individual finishes. Kennedy Olson placed fifth in the diving competition with a finals score of 299.1. Ridley Hadrava took 11th with her total of 277.75.

Abby Daman finished 13th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:14.73. Ryan Gaskins matched with a 13th-place finish in the 500 freestyle at 5:44.05. Elle Wille was right behind her, taking 19th with a time of 5:51.91.

The Jacks placed eighth in the 200 free relay. Elena Harmsen, Kylie Donat, Daman and Wille combined to finish in 1:48.03. Bemidji took 19th in the 400 free relay, finishing in 4:06.1. Harmsen, Molly Matetich, Gaskins and Wille comprised the four legs of the 400.

The Lumberjacks also took 19th in the 200 medley relay. Marley Ueland, Daman, Gaskins and Donat combined to post a time of 2:04.7.
