BEMIDJI — a coalition of hunters, landowners and farmers who share a frustration of "poor wildlife management" are set to host a meeting about recent wolf legislation at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Eagles Club, 1270 Neilson Ave SE.

This is being hosted by HFH in the state.

The legislation in question was passed through the House of Representatives in September 2024 and aimed to have wolves removed from federal protection in the lower 48 states. However, the Senate halted the legislation.

With a Republican majority of the House, Senate and White House after the 2024 General Election, HFH hopes that the same legislation will now pass through the Senate, a release said. And the group hopes their planned meetings will help guide the process.

"These meetings will give the attendees an opportunity to ask their elected officials how we got into this wolf crisis situation and what they plan to do to help us get out of it," the release said. "If the legislation does pass, will Minnesota re-introduce a wolf hunting season?"

HFH hopes to ask these questions and receive community-minded answers at the upcoming meeting.
