MEN'S BASKETBALL: Oak Hills falls twice to open season

MADISON, S.D. -- The Oak Hills Christian College men's basketball team kicked off the season with a 96-65 loss to Dakota State on Saturday. After trailing 42-33 at the half, the Wolfpack cut the lead to seven points with 15:44 remaining in the game.

After trailing 42-33 at the half, the Wolfpack cut the lead to seven points with 15:44 remaining in the game. OHCC trailed by 14 with 10:30 remaining but foul trouble and free throws pushed the lead out to the 96-65 finish.

Sophomore guard Duke Abalos led the Wolfpack with 13 points, one of four players to score in double digits. Sophomore Ezekiel Cook and freshman Jaren Brooks each tallied 11 points and freshman Phillip Harris added 10.

Cook also led the Wolfpack on the boards with six rebounds.

Oak Hills got off to a good start in their second game of the weekend Sunday against Presentation College. The Wolfpack led 45-44 at halftime before succumbing 99-75.

Oak Hills had four players in double digits, led by Cook’s first triple-double of the season with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Brooks and Abalos added 15 points apiece and sophomore Ronnie Jackson contributed 10.

The Pack are off until Friday, Nov. 10, when they travel north of the border to take on Northern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference newcomers Providence University College in Otterburne, Manitoba.
