MADISON, Wis. – The Bemidji State women’s hockey team got its series with No. 1 Wisconsin started a day early.
The Beavers fell 4-0 against the nation’s top-ranked team.

Laila Edwards got the scoring started for the Badgers in the first period with a power-play goal. It was assisted by Kristen Simms and Casey O’Brien.
It looked as if the score would hold until the third period until Wisconsin scored twice late in the second. Marianne Picard and Caroline Harvey scored in the final 6:17 in the middle frame to take a 3-0 lead. Claire Enright made it 4-0 with 20 seconds left in regulation.
Bemidji State freshman goaltender Kaitlin Groess made 33 saves in her first-career start in Labahn arena. Ava McNaughton stopped 13 shots for the Badgers in a shutout victory.
