“This is a new chapter for us,” said head coach Mike Lynch. “I am very excited to see what this team can do this season. We are a very young team with lots of great energy. The returners are a group that never back down from a workout and they bring awesome energy to practice each day. This team has no limits to what they can achieve.”
McCarthy is coming off a sophomore season where she placed 65th at the 2023 NSIC Cross Country Championship with a personal-best time of 23:19.3 and finished 127th at the NCAA Regionals. She also set a personal-best in the 5,000-meters with a time of 19:13.5 at the Charles Bowles Invite during the season.
“Maggie has made big improvement throughout her college career,” continued Lynch. “She is trusting herself more and more as a college runner! Maggie is that teammate that they younger athletes can look up to and is fantastic teammate all around. With Maggie's work ethic she is poised for another break though season.”
