Wisconsin edges defending champion Ohio State in opening poll

By a single point, Wisconsin opens the college hockey poll season in the pole position of the USA Hockey / The Rink Live women's college hockey poll.

The Badgers, with 274 points, garnered eight first-place votes. Meanwhile, Ohio State, which won last season's national championship 1-0 over the Badgers, had 273 and 10 first-place votes. Minnesota, Clarkson and Colgate round out the top five.

The ECAC has seven teams in the rankings while the WCHA has five. Hockey East has two and Atlantic Hockey has one.
