Katrina Barthelt scores late, Beavers drop 1st NSIC contest against SCSU

The Bemidji State women’s soccer team beat St. Cloud State thrice last season. The Huskies got on back against the Beavers on Sunday.

ST. CLOUD – The Bemidji State women’s soccer team beat St. Cloud State thrice last season.

The Huskies got on back against the Beavers on Sunday.

SCSU (5-1-0, 2-0-0) scored in each half to take home a 2-1 win over BSU (3-3-0, 1-1-0). It was Bemidji State’s first loss in NSIC play this season.

Ariel Hawkey scored in the 17th minute for the Huskies with an assist from Ellie Primerano, who made it 2-0 in the 66th minute with an assist from Cady Compton.

Katrina Barthelt pulled the Beavers within one with under a minute to play on a penalty kick.

Sonia Alfieri stopped three shots in goal for BSU to match Meriel Orham’s total for St. Cloud State.
