BEMIDJI — Bemidji State men's basketball senior forward John Sutherland marked the team’s first NSIC Player of the Week honor of the season Monday.
Sutherland, a 6 feet 7 inches tall forward from Grand Rapids, grabbed the Beavers’ top scoring spot last week in wins over Minnesota Crookston and Northern State. He marked 18.5 points per game for a week-long total of 37. Additionally, he led the team with 15 assists, 22 rebounds, two blocks and a pair of steals.

Currently sitting at 93 games played in his career, Sutherland now holds 275 career assists, taking sixth place in Bemidji State's all-time lineup. He also sits in third place in program history for points scored, with 1,587, and rebounds, with 681.
Sutherland will look to bring this energy into the weekend as BSU travels to Augustana Friday evening and Wayne State Saturday afternoon. Both games are available on the Beaver Radio Network and NSIC Network for listening and streaming, respectively.
