Bemidji State Polar Plunge raises over $13,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota
Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union hosted its annual BSU Polar Plunge event at Bemidji State's John Glas Fieldhouse Monday evening, raising over $13,000 for Special Olympics Minnesota.

BEMIDJI — Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union hosted its annual BSU Polar Plunge event at Bemidji State's John Glas Fieldhouse on Monday evening, raising $13,794 for Special Olympics Minnesota.
Made up of members of the university, Affinity Plus staff and individuals from the Bemidji community, 103 participants took the chilly jump into the bright red "plungster."

According to a release, all proceeds benefit Special Olympics Minnesota's effort to offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities year-round sports training and competitions.
The Polar Plunge holds more than 25 events across Minnesota to raise funds for the cause. This is the second year in a row that Bemidji State has welcomed the Affinity Plus Polar Plunge to its campus.

Corey Rupp raised the most out of any individual participant, notching $2,330. Affinity Plus' "Paul Bunyan Plungers" raised the most of the large corporation/teams present, collecting $7,712. Of the university groups participating, the Bemidji State women's hockey team led the way with $1,034.
