Beavers score 2 late, get season’s 1st win against Quincy

The Bemidji State women’s soccer team was just over four minutes away from being shut out for a third straight match to open the season. Then Katrina Barthelt scored.

FAYETTE, Iowa – The Bemidji State women’s soccer team was just over four minutes away from being shut out for a third straight match to open the season.

Then Katrina Barthelt scored.

Barthelt’s strike in the 76th minute preceded Maria Stocke’s penalty kick goal in the 78th minute. It pushed the Beavers to a 2-1 win over Quincy (0-3-0).

BSU (1-2-0) goalkeeper Sonia Alfieri stopped four shots, while Julia Mincher made eight saves for Quincy.
