BEMIDJI – For the first time since 2017, the Beavers have claimed a win over Winona State.
The Bemidji State women’s tennis team defeated the Warriors 4-3 at the Gillett Wellness Center on Saturday, bouncing back from Friday’s 5-2 loss to Minnesota State to get back to a .500 record on the season (7-7).

BSU’s four points all came from singles competition. Sophie Groen came away with a three-set win at No. 1 singles, defeating Lainey Ristau by scores of 4-6, 6-3 and 6-3. Mia Leshem notched another dramatic three-set victory for the Beavers at No. 2 singles, beating Skylar Gary by scores of 7-6, 3-6 and 6-0.
Bemidji State’s final three-set win came courtesy of Lauren Rutten at No. 5 singles; she topped Nikita Agrawal by scores of 6-7, 6-4 and 6-3. Ana LucÃa Ibáñez grabbed a win at No. 4 singles, defeating Muranda Dualong in two sets by scores of 6-4 and 6-3.
BSU’s lone win in doubles came at No. 1, as Groen and Leshem paired up to defeat Ristau and Halle Rosentreter 6-2.
