BEMIDJI – Along with Emily Israelson and Nate Deziel – who captured their respective Women’s and Men’s Division Championships on Saturday – the remaining 100th Birchmont victors were named at the Bemidji Town and Country Club.
Mark Ewing came out on top of the Executive Division with a 1-up win over Omar Daal. Ewing trailed by two after five holes before winning three straight to close out the front nine.

Daal’s birdie on No. 10 squared the match, then Ewing pulled ahead 1-up on No. 12. Daal squared the match again on No. 15 before Ewing took a 1-up lead with a birdie on 17. Matching pars on the final hole gave Ewing the win.

Trent Wilcox snubbed Dale Finck of winning the medalist and the Senior Division Championship in the same run with a 3-and-1 win on Saturday.
Wilcox took a 1-up lead to the turn, then went 2-up with a par on No. 12. Wilcox and Finck traded the next four holes before Wilcox made par on No. 17 to seal the win.
Doug Taylor added a Cinderella story to the winner’s circle as the 15th-seeded Masters player.
Taylor perused through match play, defeating medalist Wayne Caughey 3-and-2, seventh-seeded Bruce Pederson 4-and-3 and 14th-seeded Jack Seiberlich 3-and-1.
On Saturday, Taylor Vanquished Rick Vanyo to win his first Birchmont title. Taylor won four holes on the front nine to take a 2-up lead to the turn. Vanyo got one back with a par on 11 before Taylor won three of the final four holes played to win 4-and-2.

Fourth-seeded Kolby Koerner out of Grand Forks, N.D., outlasted the Junior 17U field.

Koerner squared off against Preston Miller in the championship match and got out to a hot start. Starting on the 10th hole, Koerner went 2-up on No. 15, then won the final two holes before playing the front nine.
Koerner matched Miller’s card on Nos. 1-3 before pulling ahead 5-up on the fourth hole. Identical scores on the fifth and sixth holes pushed Koener to his first Birchmont championship at 16 years old.

Jenna Palmiscno, the BTCC’s board treasurer and finance committee chair, took home the Women’s Executive Championship. As the lowest seed in the eight-player field, Palmiscno beat third-seeded Ronda Gangelhoff 2-and-1 on Saturday.
After dropping the first hole, Palmiscno won four of the next five to go 3-up. Gangelhoff cut her lead to one at the turn, then squared the match with a par on No. 10. Palmiscno picked up wins on Nos. 15 and 16 to go two up before her par on 17 notched the tournament win.
