MANKATO – Madison Mashuga wasn’t interested in the Bemidji State women’s hockey team winning its series opener against Minnesota State on Friday.
Mashuga scored thrice in a 5-0 win over the Beavers in Mankato. She opened the scoring four minutes into the first period, then added two more goals in the second period to extend the lead to 4-0.

Alexis Paddington scored late in the first period. Jamie Nelson also scored a power-play goal in the third period. Lilie Ramirez had a pair of assists in the win.
BSU was outshot 26-12. Sophomore goaltender Eva Filippova made 22 saves for Bemidji State, while Hailey Hansen logged the shutout for MSU.
