The 2024 Paris Olympics ended with a flurry on Sunday, Aug. 11. My wife and I were inspired by the athletes not just for their physical prowess but also for their sportsmanship and national pride. Our American team made us so proud!
There were times we both got choked up after a victory or narrow defeat which had us on our feet cheering in front of the TV. If you missed some of the best moments from the games, I encourage you to watch the highlights or replays online almost anywhere.

So many great moments! I could not possibly list them all so here are just a few: The USWNT (soccer) winning gold even as news of their relegation circulated. Katie Ledecky competing in the pool! Simone Biles in gymnastics, a comeback from her troubles in Tokyo. Scottie Scheffler’s day-four back nine to win gold.
Our Olympic runners coming from behind to win or place in quite a few amazing races. Our men’s and women’s basketball teams facing home crowds and good teams to win gold for our country. The American “pommel horse guy” he was so cool. I could go on and on.
Our athletes represent the hope of our country. They inspire and unite us as they display our national identity for the world to see. The French hosted an incredible show. LA will be the host of the Summer Olympics in 2028. They will be hard-pressed to replicate the French success but I cannot wait to see them try.
We will be going to LA to see the games. Please join me there or in any case, support our athletes in any fashion which suits you. Until then I will be chanting USA! USA! USA!
