Letter to the Editor: I no longer recognize my America

Born in 1940, I have lived through World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Afghan War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and I served in the U.S. Air Force for five years during the Cold War as a Russian linguist. I practiced as an attorney for over 30 years. With that history, I no longer recognize my America.

The values I was taught and believed in no longer exist, which saddens me, and as I near the end of my life, I question what will become of the American promise and dream.

Currently, our government is ready to make our oligarchs richer with tax cuts for them, and this same government is now violating the same human rights that the Chinese and Russians have been violating for decades. My only suggestion to my fellow Americans is to wake up.
