CARLTON, Minn. -- A rural Esko woman was charged Wednesday in Carlton County Court with criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation after a weekend crash that killed a Cloquet woman.
According to authorities, Megan Dana Dickenson, 25, admitted to drinking before causing the crash Saturday afternoon.

Kari Renee Luoma, 34, was killed and her husband, Jeremiah Luoma, was seriously injured when their vehicle was struck by Dickenson鈥檚 vehicle at Canosia Road and North Cloquet Road in Thomson Township. Dickenson sped into the intersection without stopping at the four-way sign, authorities said.
Carlton County sheriff鈥檚 deputies arrested Dickenson on Monday after she was released from St. Luke鈥檚 hospital in Duluth, where she had been transported after the accident.
According to the complaint, officers at the scene detected the odor of alcohol and noted that Dickenson鈥檚 eyes were bloodshot and watery. She indicated that she had been drinking wine earlier in the day and had just come from a bar in Scanlon, where she admitted to having consumed additional alcoholic beverages, the complaint said.
At St. Luke鈥檚, Dickenson consented to a blood test, and it was sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.
