SUPERIOR, Wis. — A 2-month old infant has died following a fatal crash early Friday morning in the 5200 block of East Second St. in Superior.
According to a report from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Elijah Michael Ojanen died Tuesday as a result of blunt force injury from the vehicle collision.

This is the second death that has resulted from the crash, as a man was pronounced dead at the scene. Other occupants of the vehicle included a woman and a 2-year-old child.
An off-duty Superior Police Department veteran is currently facing one count of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle resulting from the incident. According to the criminal complaint, Gregory M. Swanson, 42, of Solon Springs, is accused of hitting a disabled sedan with no lights in the right lane of the 5200 block of East Second Street at about 1:17 a.m. Friday.
After striking the vehicle, Swanson drove to the Holiday gas station about four blocks away, where a witness told a sheriff's deputy that they saw Swanson throw away a six-pack of alcoholic beverages.
Swanson appeared for a bail hearing Monday. Wisconsin Assistant Attorney General Tara Jenswold, who is serving as a special prosecutor in the case, stated earlier this week that she anticipated filing additional charges against Swanson once she was able to confirm the medical status of the other occupants of the vehicle.
