Blizzard conditions in the Red River Valley of northwest Minnesota and eastern North Dakota closed roads, schools and made travel difficult Wednesday into today. U.S. Highway 2 from East Grand Forks to Crookston, Minn., was closed several times Thursday before re-opening at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday night. Driving conditions deteriorated steadily throughout the region as a blizzard through the Red River Valley was making its way east. No travel is advised in Polk, Red Lake, Kittson, Marshall and Pennington counties in northwest Minnesota, MNDOT said Thursday afternoon. According to MNDOT's weather map on its website, driving conditions in the immediate Bemidji area are fair, but become more difficult as motorists travel west. MNDOT says motorists should visit
before attempting any travel.
