Portage Lake Road, Forest Road 2131, is located 15 miles east of Cass Lake. The Portage Lake Road will be closed for 2.5 miles off Highway 2 while work is being done to replace a failing culvert with a new bridge. During the expected six-week closure, a detour route will provide access to Leech Lake and facilities at the end of the road.

Both Forest Roads will be bladed and brushed open prior to the bridge work to allow for larger traffic travelling down the detour route.
