RED WING, Minn. - A 27-year-old Red Wing man pleaded guilty to two charges, including second-degree murder without intent, to avoid trial Monday, Feb. 5.
In addition to the murder charge, Charles Deonta Jones entered a guilty plea for reckless discharge of a firearm in a municipality.

During a court hearing Monday, Jones said he and Dangelo William Masterjohn got into an altercation while in a home early April 18, 2017, when a loaded firearm Jones was holding discharged.
Masterjohn is said to have exited the residence with a single gunshot wound and later discovered on the ground down the street from the home by Red Wing police, according to the criminal complaint.
The plea agreement in Goodhue County District Court avoided a trial scheduled to begin Monday while dismissing several other charges.
Jones also has pending charges in Wisconsin, where he was arrested at gunpoint April 18, 2017, after allegedly leading deputies there on a high-speed.
Sentencing in the Goodhue County case is scheduled for May 9.
