BENSON, Minn. - Minnesota's Occupational Safety and Health Administration is looking into the death of a man who died last week after a fall at the Benson Power plant in central Minnesota.

Almost a week later, the police have not yet released the name of the individual, though the family has been notified. The investigation into the incident is ongoing with OSHA, said Benson police on Wednesday, so the name isn't being released.

The death occurred at the 55-megawatt biomass plant that burns turkey manure mixed with wood chips to produce electricity that it supplies to Xcel Energy, which plans to close the plant soon. It's a move the company said will save Xcel customers money.

The accident occurred last Wednesday, Dec. 6, at about 3:15 p.m. Responding to the accident were the Benson Police Department, Benson Ambulance, Benson Fire Department and the Swift County Sheriff's Office.

Benson Power employees directed the rescue personnel to the injured party. Life-saving measures were attempted and the person was transported to Swift County Benson Health Services, police said. The individual did not survive the injuries from the fall and was pronounced dead after efforts to resuscitate were not successful, said a police report.
