OLIVIA, Minn. -- One person was killed in a head-on crash at 10:35 a.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 71 in Renville County in central Minnesota, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The identity of the victim and others involved in the accident will be released Saturday morning.

According to preliminary information from the State Patrol, a 2000 Silverado driven by a 50-year-old man from Kandiyohi was southbound on Highway 71. A 2010 Toyota Tundra driven by a 32-year-old man from Renville was northbound on the highway. The Silverado crossed the center line and struck the Tundra head on.
The driver was the lone occupant in the Silverado.
The driver and two passengers – a 47-year-old woman from Renville and a 38-year-old man from Minneapolis – were in the Tundra.
The crash occurred on the highway south of the intersection with Renville County Road 11.
Traffic was detoured around the crash site on gravel roads until about 3:20 p.m. Friday, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
