Suspect named in deadly shooting of Minnesota lawmakers, FBI offering up to $50,000 for info

Police have released photos and information on Vance Boelter, 57, who is suspected of shooting two Minnesota legislators and their spouses early Saturday morning, June 14.

Law enforcement is releasing information about the suspect in the deadly shooting that killed Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark , and injured Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette.

The suspect is identified as Vance Boelter, 57.

Boelter, who police believe could be attempting to "flee the area", escaped on foot after being confronted by police outside Rep. Hortman's home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota in the early morning hours of Saturday, June 14.

According to Boelter's social media profile, he is a St. Cloud State alumnus who worked in the Minnesota food industry until starting a security company in 2021. He was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz and former Gov. Mark Dayton to a state workforce board.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation listed Boelter on the webpage for the and is offering up to $50,000 for any information leading to the arrest of Boelter.

Law enforcement officials at Saturday afternoon's press conference confirmed that as of 4 p.m., the shelter-in-place order in Brooklyn Park had been lifted.
