An East Grand Forks man has been accused of selling drugs out of a trailer and workshop.
James Edward Kirchoffner, 44, appeared Tuesday in Polk County District Court on several drug charges, including two first-degree controlled substance crimes of sale, a second-degree controlled substance crime of possession and a third-degree controlled substance crime of sale, all felonies. He was arrested March 8 at 1019 Fifth Ave. N.E. after police learned from buyers they were getting meth from that location.

East Grand Forks police searched a trailer and workshop on the property and found plastic bags that contained crystal chunks-which tested positive for meth and weighed 12 grams-25 grams of marijuana, a weight scale with crystal-like residue on it, clear plastic baggies, almost $1,000 in cash, and other drug paraphernalia, including a marijuana grinder, according to court documents.
Kirchoffner allegedly admitted to selling meth for about six months so he could make extra cash, according to court documents. Court documents did not name the source from whom he bought the drugs but said his source lived in Grand Forks and used a middleman to deliver the meth, according to court documents.
The first- and second-degree charges each carry a maximum punishment of 30 years in prison and the third-degree charge is punishable by up to 20 years prison time.
